Our mission has entered a dormant status, as there were not enough families active to support it at this time. However, there are still True Orthodox Christians living in the area who would like a parish, so if you arrive at this page and wish to find out the latest or join the effort, please contact Fr. Anastasios Hudson at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call him at (919) 827-4945.
During his pastoral visit on Saturday, June 6/19, Father Anastasios delivered a sermon on the topic of "Let the Dead Bury Their own Dead," which can be viewed below. Unfortunately, the lighting is a little dark, on account of the beautiful and absolutely sunny day that we were experiencing!
Once again, we welcomed Fr. Anastasios Hudson from Raleigh, North Carolina, to our mission for liturgy on Saturday, June 6/19! Fr. Anastasios was accompanied by his chanter John.
We are honored that our mission was profiled on the Metropolis website! Please have a look.

On Saturday, February 7/20, Fr. Anastasios Hudson came to Charlottesville to serve liturgy for the First Saturday of Great Lent. He was accompanied by John, the chanter at St. Mark the Evangelist Orthodox Mission in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Fr. Anastasios and John arrived Friday evening after a three and a half hour car ride from Raleigh through the backroads of Virginia. Fr. Anastasios prefers to travel these routes versus the crowded highways both due to a love of the bucolic scenery and a desire to scope out future places in which to establish missions, God-willing, in small places that have never had an Orthodox presence previously.
After a Lenten dinner prepared by the Larimer family, Fr. Anastasios served Small Compline and heard the confessions of those faithful present. All retired for the evening, and in the morning Liturgy was celebrated in the chapel of Holy Mother of God Mission. Two new families were present, having learned about the presence of our mission recently. A delicious fasting meal was then served for lunch, and after several hours of spiritually edifying discussion, Fr. Anastasios and John returned to Raleigh in the evening of Saturday.
Reader's services will continue to be held weekly, and the next scheduled liturgy will occur in June, around the time of the Mission's Feastday (Panagia Axion Estin) which occurs on June 11/24. For more information about services, please contact Maria Larimer at the email or telephone number listed below.
